Description
The Aurora is a 120x80cm rectangular wall mirror framed by a textured gold leaf border that radiates outward from the central bevelled glass in a series of irregular, hand-applied strokes. The frame is built on a black-lacquered MDF backing measuring 2.6cm deep, and the entire piece weighs 22.8kg, requiring appropriate wall fixings for secure installation.
Designed for vertical orientation in hallways, above console tables, and in dressing areas where full-length reflection is useful, the Aurora provides both functional mirror surface and decorative presence. The 120cm height suits walls with dado rails or picture rails between 90-120cm, allowing the mirror to sit comfortably above furniture without overwhelming smaller rooms. The gold leaf catches and reflects ambient light, which helps brighten darker hallways and entrance areas.
Each frame shows slight variation in the gold leaf application due to the hand-finishing process, so the exact pattern of strokes and the density of gold coverage differ between individual pieces. The bevelled edge of the mirror glass adds depth and reduces the hard line where glass meets frame. The black MDF backing is visible from the side when viewing the mirror at an angle, providing contrast against lighter walls.

Frequently Asked
How is the Aurora mounted to the wall?
The 22.8kg weight requires secure wall fixings appropriate to your wall type. Most installations use two D-rings or a French cleat system attached to the MDF backing, with corresponding wall plugs and screws rated for the weight. For plasterboard walls, metal cavity fixings or studs are recommended.
Does the gold leaf vary between mirrors?
Yes. The gold leaf is applied by hand, so the exact pattern of strokes and the density of coverage differ between individual pieces. This is a characteristic of the hand-finishing process, not a defect.
Can the mirror be hung horizontally?
The Aurora is designed for vertical orientation and the frame pattern radiates from the centre in a way that suits portrait hanging. Horizontal installation is possible but changes the visual balance of the gold leaf design.
How is the gold leaf cleaned?
Gold leaf is delicate and should be dusted with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid water, household cleaners and polishes, as these can lift or discolour the leaf. For the mirror glass itself, a standard glass cleaner can be used, taking care not to spray directly onto the frame.
