Description

The Atsu planter stand is a hammered brass bowl held in a slender iron frame, 56cm tall overall and 22cm across the bowl. The bowl is a half sphere with a rim left slightly out of true by the hammering, and the marks of the tools run over the whole of the outside. The frame is four square section uprights in black iron, drawn together by a ring below the rim that carries the bowl, splayed a little towards the floor and crossed in an X at the base.

At 56cm the bowl stands at about the height of the arm of a chair, which brings a plant to eye level for anyone seated and lifts trailing foliage clear of the floor. It holds 3500ml. The four legs cross at the base rather than standing at the corners of a square, so the stand takes up little floor and will go into a corner, beside a chair, or against the return of a hallway wall. The larger stand in the range is 78cm tall and 28cm across.

The bowl is brass, hammered with traditional tools so the working shows across the surface and no two bowls carry the same pattern of marks. It sits into the ring of the iron frame rather than being fixed to it. The Atsu range also holds a hanging pot in two sizes and a planter in three. It is made for use inside.
