Description

The Aster is a 384mm spherical pendant light built from two ribbed glass hemispheres clamped together by a brass band and suspended on four brass rods from a matching ceiling rose. Inside, three E14 bulb fittings (bulbs sold separately) cast light through the vertical ribbing moulded into the glass, which diffuses and softens the output while creating a linear pattern across the sphere when lit.

Designed for dining tables, entrance halls and landings with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Aster provides both ambient illumination and a structural focal point. The drop is adjustable on installation between 789mm minimum and 1703mm maximum, allowing the pendant to be set 700-800mm above a dining table or lowered further in double-height entrance halls. The ceiling rose fits standard UK ceiling fixings and the brass rods conceal the cable run.

The brass finish on the metalwork is a warm, mid-tone brass — not polished to a mirror shine but with enough lustre to catch daylight and lamp light. The ribbed glass is clear, not frosted, so the bulbs are visible through the ribs when the pendant is off but the ribbing breaks up glare when the bulbs are lit. The combined glass and brass frame gives the fitting a 2.5kg presence without overwhelming smaller dining spaces. Each bulb can be up to 60W, giving flexibility to choose LED, halogen or filament bulbs to suit the room's light temperature and dimming needs.

What bulbs does the Aster take?

The pendant has three E14 small Edison screw fittings, each rated to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for dining and hallway use.

Is the drop adjustable after installation?

No. The drop is set during installation by cutting or coiling the cable inside the ceiling rose before the pendant is hung. The minimum drop is 789mm and maximum is 1703mm, measured from ceiling to the bottom of the glass sphere.

Can the Aster be dimmed?

Dimming capability depends on the bulbs used. LED bulbs must be marked as dimmable and paired with an LED-compatible dimmer. Halogen and filament bulbs are generally dimmable on standard dimmers. The pendant itself does not include dimming electronics.

What ceiling height is needed?

For use above a dining table, the pendant typically sits 700-800mm above the surface, which requires a ceiling height of approximately 2.4m or above when hung at minimum drop. Higher ceilings can accommodate the pendant at extended drops for entrance halls or landings.
