Description

The Ashenhurst ring pendant holds its light in a single satin gold circle, 755mm across, with an integrated LED running the ring rather than a lamp behind a shade. The drop adjusts from 400mm to 1550mm, so the ring can float low over a table or sit higher as a piece of ceiling geometry. There is no lamp to source or replace, and the fitting is dimmable on a compatible dimmer switch, which counts for a lot with a light this broad. At 2.5kg it is lighter than its diameter suggests, though the fixing still needs to be sound.

A ring of this size wants an open ceiling: above a round or square dining table, in the middle of a hallway, over a stair landing or in a bedroom with space to spare. Because the light comes from the whole circumference it spreads evenly and casts few hard shadows, so it flatters a room used in the evening and gives usable light for eating and talking. Satin gold keeps the tone warm against white, stone or deep colours, and the thin profile means this ceiling light holds attention without crowding the space beneath it.
