Description
The ASHA is a 30W recessed LED downlight with a 3-step CCT selector on the rear driver housing, allowing on-site adjustment between warm white (3000K, 3400lm), neutral white (4000K, 3695lm) and daylight (5700K, 3600lm). The integrated SMD LED array sits behind an opal polycarbonate diffuser with a 100° beam angle, providing broad, even illumination across commercial offices, corridors, washrooms and retail spaces.
The fitting requires a 205mm ceiling cut-out and a minimum 96mm void above the ceiling, with a 46mm recessed depth from the ceiling surface. The shallow profile reduces visible intrusion while the IP54 front face allows installation in moisture-prone environments, including bathrooms outside dedicated shower zones. The rear driver housing carries an IP20 rating, so it must sit within a dry ceiling void. The fitting uses plug-and-play connectors rather than hard-wired terminations, reducing installation time on multi-downlight commercial projects.
The polycarbonate and aluminium construction provides impact resistance and thermal management for the 30W LED array, which runs at 125lm/W efficacy and carries a CRI >80 for reasonably accurate colour rendering. The constant current driver operates on 230V 50Hz mains and is not compatible with dimmer switches. The fitting is rated for 45,000 hours to L70B50 (the point at which 50% of a batch would have degraded to 70% of initial lumen output), equivalent to approximately 15 years at 8 hours per day use.
The ASHA is compatible with the Knightsbridge EMKIT2L emergency module, which provides non-maintained emergency lighting for commercial installations where safety lighting is mandated. The module is sold separately and retrofits into the downlight housing. The fitting carries a 3-year warranty and meets Class II electrical safety classification, meaning it does not require an earth connection.

Frequently Asked
How is the colour temperature adjusted?
The CCT selector is a 3-position switch on the rear of the driver housing. Set it to position 1 for 3000K warm white, position 2 for 4000K neutral white, or position 3 for 5700K daylight. The switch must be set before powering the downlight — it cannot be changed while the fitting is energised.
What ceiling void depth is needed?
A minimum 96mm void above the ceiling is required to accommodate the driver housing and rear connectors. The 46mm recessed depth below the ceiling line is separate from this measurement.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
The IP54 front face allows installation in moisture-prone areas including bathrooms, but not directly in shower enclosures or above baths (Zone 1). The rear driver housing is IP20, so it must sit within a dry ceiling void and not in a damp loft space or condensation-prone zone.
Is the ASHA dimmable?
No. The constant current driver does not support dimming. Attempting to wire the ASHA to a dimmer circuit may damage the driver or cause flickering.
