Asana Marble Soap Dispenser - Grey

The Asana is a soap dispenser turned from grey marble, 13cm tall and 8cm across. The body is a plain cylinder and the whole of it is covered in hand etched lines, cut close together in a crosshatch that catches the light across the stone rather than lying flat. The marble is pale grey, flecked and veined darker, and the veining runs differently through each one. The pump is stainless steel in a warm aged brass tone, with a knurled collar and a curved spout.

At 13cm tall and 8cm across it stands on a basin surround, a windowsill or the corner of a bath. It weighs just under a kilogram, which is enough to hold its place when the pump is pressed one handed rather than sliding on a wet surface. On a windowsill beside the matching Asana dish, the etching reads as one overall texture at a distance and as separate cuts close to.

The body is marble and the pump and spout are stainless steel. The veining is natural, so the depth of the grey and the run of the darker seams change from piece to piece, and the lines are cut by hand, so their spacing varies too. The Asana also runs as a storage jar and a shallow dish in the same grey marble.
