Description

The Arid A/03 is a compact LED wall light in Textured Terracotta, made from aluminium and stainless steel. A fluted upright plate sits against the wall, and a single slim tube is set at an angle across its face, so the fitting reads as a small piece of sculpture even when it is switched off. It is 20cm tall and stands just 5.5cm out from the wall. The light source is an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It draws 2.1W and gives 360 lumens at 2700K, a warm white, with a CRI of 90, so skin tones, wood and fabrics look true to life under it.

We would put the Arid A/03 in a bedroom, a dining room or a living room. At 2.1W and 360 lumens it is an accent and mood light rather than the main light for a room: a pair either side of a bed, a row along a dining room wall, or one beside a favourite armchair. Because it projects only 5.5cm, it sits close to the wall and stays out of the way beside a bed or behind a sofa. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only.

The body is aluminium and stainless steel, and the Textured Terracotta finish has a fine, slightly grainy surface that sits well with plaster, timber, linen and stone. The fluting on the plate gives the wall light a ribbed profile from the side as well as from the front. The design is by Nahtrang Studio. The Arid A/03 runs on 230V mains and is wired in by a qualified electrician, so it is worth deciding where each light will sit before the work begins.
