Description

The Arid A/03 is a slim wall light in Textured Sand Yellow, made from aluminium and stainless steel. A ribbed vertical plate sits flat against the wall, and a single narrow tube crosses it at an angle, with the light coming from the end of the tube as a soft, focused pool. It stands 20cm tall and comes just 5.5cm out from the wall, so it suits a narrow space. The light source is an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change: it draws 2.1W and gives 360 lumens at a warm 2700K, with a CRI of 90, which keeps skin tones, wood and fabrics looking true to their colour.

We see it first in the bedroom, where a pair either side of the bed gives each person their own light without a lamp taking up room on the bedside table. In a living room it works beside an armchair or a sofa, a small directed light for an evening corner, and in a dining room a row along one wall adds warm accents. It is rated IP20, so it belongs in dry rooms indoors.

The design is by Nahtrang Studio. The body is aluminium and stainless steel, and the Textured Sand Yellow finish has a fine, even grain that sits well against the crisp ribs of the plate. It runs on 230V mains power and is wired in by a qualified electrician, and as a Class I fitting it needs an earth connection. With the LED built in and drawing only 2.1W, there are no bulbs to keep in a drawer. Our practical tip: decide where you want that pool of light to fall, beside a pillow or over the arm of a chair, before the wiring goes in, because a wired-in light is easiest to place right the first time.
