Anjuna Small Reactive Glaze Decorative Jug - White

The Anjuna is a rounded ceramic jug, 23.5cm tall and 20cm across, with a full belly that draws in to a short neck and opens again into a shallow flared rim. Two loop handles run from the shoulder up to the neck. The body is finely ribbed from the shoulder down to the foot, and the glaze is a reactive off white carrying brown speckling, heaviest across the rim, the handles and the shoulder and thinning as it comes down the body.

It is a decorative jug and is not suitable for holding water, so it takes dried stems rather than cut flowers. At 23.5cm tall it stands on a console, a wide shelf or a hearth, and with the two handles it reads as an object in its own right when nothing is in it. The large is 29cm tall and 17cm across, so it stands taller and narrower than this one.

The body is ceramic under a reactive glaze. The ribbing runs the full height of the belly and the glaze lies thinner where it rides over each rib, so the brown comes through in fine vertical lines. The speckling falls differently on every jug, so no two are alike. The Anjuna range also runs as a bowl and as a ceramic vase in an off white.

Can it hold water?

No. The Anjuna jugs are for decorative use only and are not suitable to hold water. They take dried stems.

How big is the small Anjuna?

23.5cm tall and 20cm across. The large is 29cm tall and 17cm across, so it is the taller and narrower of the two.

Will every jug look the same?

Not exactly. The reactive glaze falls differently on every jug, so the depth of the off white and the run of the brown speckling vary.

Can it go outside?

No. It is for indoor use only.

How do I look after it?

Wipe it regularly with a soft, damp cloth. To clean it, wash in warm soapy water, and keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners away from the glaze.
