Description

The Anjuna is a ceramic jug 29cm tall and 17cm across, with a full round belly, a narrow neck and a small flared lip. A single loop handle runs from the neck down to the shoulder. The lower two thirds is closely ribbed, a band of fine vertical grooves that stops where the shoulder turns, and above it the glaze is smooth. Brown speckle gathers heaviest at the neck and the rim and thins out down the body.

It is a decorative jug and will not hold water. It is made for dried stems, and it stands alongside the shorter Anjuna. At 29cm, and taller again once stems are in it, it needs a surface with clear space above. It is for indoor use.

The jug is ceramic under a reactive glaze. The glaze moves in the kiln, so the speckle falls in a different pattern on every jug and some come out with more brown at the neck than others. The ribbing is a set of grooves in the body rather than raised lines on it. Anjuna is also made as a shorter, wider jug at 23.5cm.

Frequently Asked

Can it hold water?

No. The Anjuna jugs are for decorative use only and are not suitable to hold water.

What can go in it?

Dried stems. Dried grass plumes suit both sizes.

How big is it?

29cm tall and 17cm across the body. Anjuna is also made at 23.5cm tall and 20cm across.

Will every one look the same?

Not exactly. The glaze is reactive, so the brown speckle lands differently on every jug.

How do I look after it?

Wipe it over with a soft damp cloth, and wash it in warm soapy water when it needs it. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off the glaze.
