Description

A rectangular dining table in solid acacia, 180cm long, 90cm deep and 76cm high. The top is a plain flat slab with a squared edge that overhangs the frame all round, and a plain apron rail runs beneath it on all four sides. The four legs are square where they meet the apron and turn round below it, tapering the whole way down to a small foot. The finish is a deep washed walnut, dark and warm, with the grain, the board joins and the colour changes of the timber left showing through it.

At 180 by 90cm this is the smaller of the two Anbu acacia tables; the larger runs to 220cm at the same depth. The legs are set in from the ends rather than at the extreme corners, so a chair will pull up to each end as well as along the sides, and there are no stretchers between the legs to catch a foot on.

The table is solid acacia throughout. The top is made up in boards and each board takes the finish differently, so it carries bands of lighter and darker timber, and the colour will move a little over the years. Anbu runs well beyond this table: the same acacia in washed walnut is made as a bedside table, a chest of drawers, a wardrobe, a bed, and dining and counter chairs.

Frequently Asked

How big is it?

180cm long, 90cm deep and 76cm high.

Is there a larger size?

Yes. The large is 220cm long, at the same 90cm depth and 76cm height.

What is it made of?

Solid acacia throughout, finished in washed walnut.

Will every top look the same?

Closely, but not exactly. Every board takes the finish in its own way, so bands of lighter and darker timber are part of it.

How should the wood be looked after?

Wash it in warm soapy water, then rinse and dry it straight away. To feed and protect the wood, rub an edible oil such as olive or walnut into the surface with a dry cloth.
