Description
The Anbarasi is a garden coffee table in acacia, 32cm high and 90cm by 70cm, with a top of narrow planks laid side by side and a gap left between each one. The four legs are square in section and stand flush at the corners, joined by a deep rail that runs under the top on all four sides, with a short block bracing the centre of the front rail. The timber is left uncoated, so the grain, the knots and the shift in tone from plank to plank all show.
At 32cm the top sits well below seat height, which puts it at the level of a drink or a tray in front of a low outdoor sofa rather than at the level of a meal. Pulled up to a low outdoor sofa, the full 90cm length is within reach of two seats. It belongs to a modular range, so it can sit against the corner unit or the sofa extension, or stand on its own beside furniture already in the garden. The gaps between the planks let rain run through rather than stand on the top.
The table is acacia throughout, and acacia is high in natural oil, which is what allows it to stay outdoors. Left uncoated it weathers to an aged grey. Fine cracks can open along the grain once the wood has been out in the weather, and knots and variation in colour and grain between parts of the same table are normal in a natural timber. The Anbarasi range also runs to a modular sofa, a modular corner unit, a sofa extension and a side table.

Frequently Asked
Can it be left outside?
Yes. It is made for outdoor use, and the acacia is high in natural oil, which is what makes it weather resistant. Storing it somewhere dry over the winter months will prolong its life.
Will the colour change over time?
Yes. The range is uncoated, which allows the hardwood to develop an aged grey patina. A natural water resistant oil or wax can be added to slow that down.
How do I look after it?
A yearly clean with warm water removes algae and pollution and restores the timber surface. Do not use abrasive or corrosive cleaning products on it.
Are cracks in the wood a fault?
No. Acacia can develop cracks along the grain after it has been exposed to the elements, and that is a natural property of the timber rather than a flaw. Knots are natural to wood too, and they do not affect how the table performs.
What else is in the range?
A modular sofa, a modular corner unit, a sofa extension and a side table. The coffee table can be used with any of them or on its own.
