Description
The Anbarasi extension is one module of a modular outdoor sofa: a square acacia frame, 80cm each way, with cushions for the seat and the back. The frame is built from thick square-section timber, with slats laid across the seat platform and a low slatted panel standing behind it. There are no arms on either side, which is what lets one module butt straight up against the next. The acacia is left uncoated, so the grain, the knots and the shading in the wood all show.
The seat sits 32cm off the ground and the platform is 80cm wide and 72cm deep, so this is a module to sit back in rather than upright. With no arms it goes against the modular sofa on either side to lengthen it, or it stands on its own as a single seat. It is suitable for outdoor use.
The frame is acacia and the cushions are a jute and cotton blend. The wood is uncoated, so it is left to age rather than held at the colour it arrives in, and cracks along the grain once it has been out in the weather are a property of acacia rather than a fault. The cushion fabric is water repellent but not completely weatherproof. Anbarasi also runs to a modular sofa, a corner module, a coffee table and a side table.

Frequently Asked
What comes with it?
The acacia frame, with cushions for the seat and the back.
How high is the seat?
32cm off the ground. The seat platform is 80cm wide and 72cm deep.
Can it be left outside?
The frame is suitable for outdoor use. The cushions are water repellent but not completely weatherproof, so they should not be left out in showers or heavy rain, or outdoors overnight.
Does it join on to other pieces?
Yes. It is made to extend the Anbarasi modular sofa, and it also stands on its own.
Why does the wood crack?
Acacia can develop cracks along the grain once it has been exposed to the weather. That is a natural property of the wood and not a flaw.
How do I look after it?
A yearly clean with warm water lifts algae and pollution off the timber and restores the surface. Keep abrasive and corrosive products away from it. Acacia is high in oil and weather resistant, but storing the furniture somewhere dry over the winter months will make it last longer. Spot clean the cushions only.
