Description

The Anara champagne glass is a coupe: a shallow, wide bowl carried on a long slender stem and a disc foot, 14cm tall and 9cm across. A band of etched frosting runs round the lower half of the bowl and its upper edge is left ragged, so the white breaks into the clear glass in fine vertical strokes. The rim is rolled and slightly uneven, the bowl carries a shallow dimpling beneath the frosting, and small seed bubbles are caught in the stem.

The bowl holds 250ml level with the rim and measures 9cm across, so a champagne pour sits well within it and the surface is wide rather than deep. At 14cm the glass sits low on a laid table, and the stem is long enough to hold the bowl clear of the hand. Four come in a set.

The glass is recycled and the etched band is cut by hand, one glass at a time, so its depth and the run of its torn upper edge are different on each of the four. The bowl varies in thickness across its face and small bubbles are caught in the stem of every glass. The Anara range carries the same etching on a wine glass, a tumbler and a decanter.

Frequently Asked

How many glasses come in a set?

Four.

What shape is the bowl?

A coupe, which is shallow and wide rather than tall and narrow. It is 9cm across and holds 250ml level with the rim.

Are they dishwasher safe?

Yes. Washing them after every use rather than letting them stand is what stops staining. Use a mild detergent and do not leave them to soak.

Is the glass food safe?

Yes.

Will the four match each other?

Not exactly. The band is etched on each glass separately, so its depth and the line of its ragged edge run differently on every one.
