Description

The Amphora is an outdoor floor lamp with a woven beige shade on a brown structure, made from aluminium, polyethylene and synthetic fibre. It stands 47cm tall and 31cm across, a rounded, tapering shape that sits straight on the floor, deck or terrace. Inside, an integrated LED gives a warm 2700K light at 8W and 84lm, so there is never a bulb to buy or change. With a CRI of 90, skin tones and fabrics look natural in its light, and the open weave lets it glow softly through the shade rather than throw a bright beam.

Rated IP66, it suits outdoor use, so it can stand on a patio, a terrace or a lawn in the garden, wherever you sit out on summer evenings. It is just as happy indoors: in a living room it brings the same low, warm glow to a corner beside a sofa or an armchair. At 84lm it is a mood light rather than a working light, made for dinners outside, drinks as the sun goes down and quiet nights in. It runs on mains power at 230V. It is not dimmable, so it gives one steady level of light; to layer a space, we would pair it with a brighter lamp or overhead light.

Its aluminium, polyethylene and synthetic fibre construction gives the Amphora a natural, basket-like look in brown and beige that sits well with timber decking, stone paving, rattan furniture and soft cushions alike. The shade is an open weave, and small feet lift the base just clear of the ground. It is a Class I fitting. The design is by Alex Fernández Camps and Gonzalo Milà. As a practical note, set it on a level surface where you can see its glow from your seat, and give it a little room so the light falls evenly through the weave.
