Description

The Amphora is an outdoor floor lamp with a rounded, egg-like body that swells from a narrow base and tapers again to an open rim at the top. Its brown shade is closely woven, with the warm look of rattan, and the structure is brown to match. Inside, a round globe of light sits low in the body, fed by an integrated LED, so there is never a bulb to buy or change. It gives 79 lumens at 2700K, a soft warm white, with a CRI of 90 so fabrics and skin tones look natural. It stands 47cm tall and 31cm across, and rests on short feet.

It was made for outdoors. Rated IP66, it is protected against dust and strong jets of water, so it can stay out on a patio, a terrace or a garden lawn, and by a pool or at the edge of a deck. Set one beside a lounger or a low table and it gives a gentle, warm glow for long evenings outside rather than bright light to read by. The woven shape works just as well indoors, beside a sofa or in a quiet corner of the living room, where it looks like a piece of furniture by day and a soft lantern after dark.

The Amphora was designed by Alex Fernández Camps and Gonzalo Milà. It is made from aluminium, polyethylene and synthetic fibre, and the brown finish runs through both the structure and the shade. The LED draws 8W and the lamp runs on mains power at 230V. It is not dimmable, so it gives the same steady, warm light each time it is switched on. Before you buy, measure the spot you have in mind: at 47cm tall and 31cm across it sits comfortably beside an outdoor chair or a sofa, and it needs a level surface for its short feet to stand on.
