Description

The Amphora 03 is a large woven floor lamp for indoors and out, in a warm beige. Its rounded body swells out above three short legs and tapers gently towards an open top, and the light glows softly through the weave. It stands 137cm tall and 89cm across, and is made from aluminium, stainless steel, polyethylene and synthetic fibre. You choose the light source: an E27 bulb version that takes two bulbs of up to 15W each (bulbs not included), a non-dimmable integrated LED version, or a TRIAC dimmable integrated LED version. The LED versions need no bulb and give 424lm of warm 2700K light from 24.7W, with a CRI of 90, so colours look natural.

We see it first as an outdoor floor lamp. It is rated IP66, so it is sealed against dust and strong jets of water and can stay out on a terrace, a patio or the edge of a lawn, lighting an evening meal outside. Indoors it is just as much at home in a living room, beside a sofa or a large window, where one lamp gives the whole seating area a warm, low glow. At this size it needs space around it, so it suits generous rooms and open gardens rather than a tight corner.

The design is by Alex Fernández Camps and Gonzalo Milà. How it connects depends on the version you choose. The E27 bulb version and the non-dimmable LED version both plug in, on a 3.9m cable that reaches a socket across a terrace or a room, so you can move the lamp between garden and living room as the seasons change. The TRIAC dimmable LED version is wired in to the 230V mains by a qualified electrician and dims from a compatible dimmer, which makes it the one for a fixed spot where you want to set the level of light. The E27 bulb (not included) and LED, non-dimmable versions: it has a plug on its cable, and we include a UK adaptor in the box, so it is ready for a UK socket. Outdoors, the plug and the adaptor must sit in a covered, weatherproof outdoor socket.
