Description

A set of three hanging Christmas decorations in brass, no two of them the same shape. Each begins as a sheet of solid brass cut into pieces and assembled by hand with fine brass wire, so the finished form fans out from a flat profile the way a folded paper decoration does. One is a tapered drop that comes to a point at the base, one carries a wide lobed tier above a long pointed drop, and the third is a rounder onion form that sits on a flat foot. All three hang from a twisted brass loop threaded onto a fine cord.

Spaced along a branch rather than clustered is the arrangement the three are built for. The fanned sides face in several directions at once, so a decoration hung at the front of a branch and one set back in it catch the light quite differently. Three is a group rather than a tree full, so they work strung along a garland, hung from a branch or laid out across a table setting where each of the three shapes can be seen on its own.

Every piece is solid brass, cut from sheet and finished in antique brass, and the loop at the top is brass wire twisted to shape. The Amata range also holds a pair of brass star baubles, a hanging star and a tree topper, all in the same finish. Because each decoration is assembled by hand the fanned sections sit a little differently on every one.
