Description

The Alwar is a swan neck outdoor wall light in solid brass, finished in a dark antique bronze. A round back plate fixes to the wall and the arm rises from it in one curve, turning over at the top to carry a shallow conical shade with a stepped collar above it. Under the shade a clear glass cylinder with a rounded base encloses the bulb. The adjustable fittings and the screws are brass as well, so one finish runs through the whole piece.

It stands 27cm high and reaches 28cm out from the wall, with a shade 17cm across. The shade is solid over the top and open underneath, so the light goes downward onto what is below it rather than up the wall. That suits a front door, a porch, a garden wall or a courtyard. It is rated IP44 and made for outdoor use, and it takes an E14 bulb of up to 25W.

The brass is shaped and assembled by metalworkers before the bronze finish goes on. The glass is hand-blown into a mould, so the thickness and the surface vary a little from one shade to the next. The Alwar is also made in antique brass.
