Description

An arched wall mirror 53cm wide and 45cm tall, set in an aluminium frame 3cm deep. The frame is a narrow rounded section with a shallow step down to the glass, and the arch across the top is a flattened one that turns into the corners rather than rising to a point. The antique brass is uneven, running from a bright gold along the crown of the moulding to a darker tone in the hollows, and the metal itself is lightly textured.

This is the smallest of the Almora wall mirrors, and it fits a wall a larger one would swamp: above a narrow console, beside a door, or hung as one of a group. It hangs from a single keyhole plate set at the top centre of the back, and the whole mirror weighs 4.66kg.

The frame is aluminium and the glass is plain. The aluminium goes into the mould molten and the sand leaves its own grain in the metal, which is why the texture along the moulding is never quite the same twice. The Almora wall mirror is also made in two larger sizes, both in an antique nickel finish, and the range runs to round, oval and arched mirrors besides.
