Description

A storage box, 34cm tall, in peppercorn. At 50cm wide it is a little narrower than a standard interior door. A box does the job a basket cannot: it stacks, it closes, and what is inside it stops being visible. That is the difference between storage you are happy to look at and storage you would rather not think about.

Pieces bought as a set have already been matched for finish and proportion, which is the hard part of grouping anything. Split them between rooms and they still read as related. Leather is the only covering that improves with age rather than merely surviving it. It darkens unevenly where it is handled or catches the light, and reads as older rather than shabbier. Steel carries a load through a thinner section than any timber can, which is why a steel frame can look this light and still not flex. Powder-coated, it takes a knock as a chip rather than a dent. Buy for what goes in it rather than for the gap it fills, and check the lid before anything else. A lid that has to be lifted clear needs somewhere to go while the box is open, which is the difference between using it and leaving it shut.
