Description

An oval metal trough 60.5cm long, 30cm across and 30cm deep, with corrugated sides, a rolled rim and a ring handle set into each end. The zinc finish is worn back across the whole surface, pale grey where it is intact, with patches flaked through to bare metal and brown staining running down from the rim. The base is flat rather than footed.

Sixty centimetres of trough takes a planted row rather than a single specimen: a shrub and a run of herbs together. At 30cm deep it carries half as much soil depth again as the 20cm trough. It has drainage holes and it is made for outdoor use. The finish can transfer to whatever the trough stands on, so a patio or a table wants something underneath it.

The trough is iron under an antiqued zinc finish, and the wear in that finish is how it is supplied rather than damage. At 2.35kg it is heavy before anything goes into it. Akasa also runs at 41cm long, 21.5cm across and 20cm deep. Both sizes pair with terracotta and ceramic planters.
