Description

The Aethera is a 65mm square outdoor wall light with a brown powder-coated aluminium body, housing a single G9 bulb (sold separately) behind a diffuser panel. The light projects 80mm from the wall and casts directional light downward and forward, suited to doorways, porch areas, and pathway entries where focused illumination is needed rather than wide wash light.

Rated IP44 for weather protection, the Aethera handles rain and outdoor exposure but is not intended for areas subject to water jets or full immersion. The fitting is dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmer and G9 LED bulb, allowing light levels to be adjusted for different times of day or evening use. The 65mm footprint keeps the profile compact against narrower wall sections and doorframes where larger fittings would visually overwhelm.

The brown finish is a warm chocolate tone with a slightly textured powder coat, providing a softer alternative to matt black or anthracite for properties with warmer colour palettes or traditional brick and timber exteriors. The aluminium construction handles UK weather without rusting, and the 5-year warranty covers manufacturing defects from Ideal Lux.

What bulb does the Aethera take?

The fitting takes a G9 capsule bulb, sold separately. Most users pair it with a 3-5W G9 LED in warm white (2700K-3000K) for adequate porch lighting. Check the bulb is rated for outdoor use if the fitting is fully exposed to the elements.

Is it suitable for bathroom or wetroom installation?

The IP44 rating means the fitting is splash-proof and handles rain, but it is not rated for direct water jets or wetroom zones. For bathrooms, refer to the zone classification and ensure IP44 is sufficient for the zone in question.

Can it be mounted horizontally or vertically?

The Aethera is designed for horizontal mounting on a vertical wall, with the diffuser facing outward and light directed downward. Mounting orientation should not be altered as it may affect water ingress protection.

What wiring is required?

Standard mains wiring to a wall-mounted junction box. If the fitting replaces an existing outdoor light, ensure the back box is sealed and the cable gland on the new fitting is tightened to maintain the IP44 rating.
