Description

The Aethera is a 2-light outdoor wall light with a rectangular brown metal body and frosted glass lenses at the top and bottom. Each lens houses a G9 bulb (sold separately), directing light both up onto the wall and down towards the ground in a bi-directional wash. The 150mm projection from the wall gives the light clearance to cast effectively in both directions without being blocked by the wall surface itself.

Designed for exterior walls on patios, porches, covered walkways and entrance areas where up-down wall washing is needed, the Aethera carries an IP44 rating against water spray from any direction. This makes it suitable for sheltered outdoor positions where direct rain exposure is limited but moisture and condensation are present. The brown finish provides a warm, neutral tone that pairs with brick, render, timber cladding and stone facades.

The metal body measures 65mm wide and takes two G9 halogen or LED bulbs up to the maximum wattage specified in the bulb socket markings. The fixture is dimmable when paired with compatible G9 dimmable bulbs and a dimmer rated for the total load. The 5-year warranty from Ideal Lux covers manufacturing defects and finish degradation under normal outdoor use.

The Aethera takes two G9 capsule bulbs (sold separately). G9 bulbs are available in both halogen and LED versions. For outdoor use, G9 LED bulbs at 3-5W and 2700K-3000K are common choices, providing warm white light with lower energy consumption than halogen equivalents.

Is it suitable for fully exposed outdoor walls?

The IP44 rating protects against water spray from any direction, which suits covered porches, soffits and recessed entrance positions. For fully exposed walls subject to direct rain and wind-driven moisture, a higher IP rating (IP54 or IP65) would provide better long-term protection.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, the fixture itself is dimmable. However, dimming depends on using dimmable G9 bulbs and pairing them with a dimmer switch rated for the total bulb load. Not all G9 LED bulbs are dimmable, so check the bulb specification before purchasing.
