Description

The Adembi is a backless counter stool, 70cm tall and 40cm square, with a seat woven from wide straps of goat leather. The straps cross over and under one another in a plain basket weave and wrap right around the wooden seat rails, so the weave shows from underneath as well as on top. The seat dips through the middle and lifts at the two sides into a shallow saddle. The frame is acacia with a sandblasted finish, on four splayed legs braced low down by a square stretcher.

The seat sits 66cm from the floor, which is counter height rather than bar height, so it pulls up to a kitchen island or a peninsula rather than a taller bar. At 4.5kg it lifts aside with one hand, and with no back it pushes right under an overhang and out of a walkway.

The frame is acacia and the seat is goat leather. The leather is a weathered tan that gains character with use rather than wearing out, and the straps sit at slightly different shades across a single seat. The sandblasting leaves the acacia textured rather than polished, with the grain standing up under the hand. The Adembi is made in one size.
