Description
The Adastra RM406 is a zone mixer-amplifier built for multi-room audio, with a 6 x 40W RMS Class D power section that runs on 100V lines or 4/8 Ohm speakers. Each of the six output zones works independently, so you can send different sources to different areas at the same time. Transformer outputs sit alongside the Class D amplification, giving you flexibility across both distributed and low-impedance speaker setups.
Source options cover most needs without extra kit. There are three mic/line inputs on combined XLR/jack connectors, one auxiliary input on stereo RCA (phono), and a built-in USB/SD/FM player with a Bluetooth 5.0 receiver. Any of these can be matrix switched to any zone, so each room gets its own choice of audio. Microphone 1 has a variable override, and each mic input offers switchable +20V phantom power for condenser microphones. A master chime with its own volume control handles paging calls and alerts, and mic priority ducks the music when someone speaks.
Setup and monitoring are handled from the front panel. A 6.3mm stereo headphone output with volume control lets you check any zone before it goes live, and there are matching RCA line monitor outputs. Each zone provides both line-level RCA and 100V/8/4 Ohm speaker terminals. Mute is triggered by +24V relay contacts for emergency or external control. The unit measures 433 x 89 x 302mm (2U rack), weighs 11kg, and runs from a mains supply of 170-264Vac at 50Hz via an IEC connector.

Frequently Asked
How many zones can the RM406 drive independently?
It has six independent output zones, and any input source can be matrix switched to any zone, so each area can play a different source at the same time.
Can I use it with both 100V line and low-impedance speakers?
Yes. The speaker terminals support 100V line, 8 Ohm, 4 Ohm and Com connections, so it works with distributed 100V systems and standard low-impedance speakers.
What audio sources are built in?
There is an integral USB/SD/FM player plus a Bluetooth 5.0 receiver, alongside three mic/line inputs and one auxiliary RCA input.
Does it support paging and announcements?
Yes. Mic 1 has a variable override, all mic inputs have mic priority, and a master chime with volume control is provided for paging calls and alerts.
Do the microphone inputs supply phantom power?
Each XLR mic input has switchable +20V phantom power, so you can use condenser microphones that require it.
How much rack space does it need?
The RM406 measures 433 x 89 x 302mm, which is a 2U rack size, and weighs 11kg.
