Description

The Adastra C6S gives you both left and right stereo channels from a single fitting, so you can run a room from one point in the ceiling. It uses a dual voice coil design, which keeps the two channels separate while sending them through one woofer. This makes it a sensible choice for smaller rooms where fitting a pair of separate speakers would be awkward or unnecessary.

Sound comes from a 6.5" (165mm) polypropylene woofer with a rubber surround, paired with two 13mm mylar dome tweeters. The twin tweeters help keep the high frequencies clear and hold the stereo separation across the top end. Frequency response runs from 70Hz to 20kHz, with a power rating of 25W + 25W RMS and 50W + 50W maximum. Impedance is 2 x 8 ohms and sensitivity sits at 82dB (±2dB) at 1W/1m, with a wide 160 degree dispersion angle to spread the sound across the room.

Fitting is straightforward thanks to the spring-loaded 'dog-ear' clamps, which grip the ceiling once the speaker is pushed into the cutout. The cutout measures 193mm and the unit needs 76mm of mounting depth behind it, so check your ceiling void before you start. The frame is white ABS with a steel grille, and the overall size is 86 x 227mm at 1.4kg. Please note the C6S is supplied singly, so order one per room if you only need a single stereo point.

Yes. The dual voice coil design lets a single speaker carry both left and right channels while keeping them separate, so you get stereo from one point in the ceiling.

Is the C6S sold as a pair or singly?

It is supplied singly. Because one unit handles both stereo channels, you usually only need one per small room, but order the quantity you require.

What size cutout do I need?

The cutout is 193mm diameter and you need 76mm of clear mounting depth behind the ceiling. Check your ceiling void has room before cutting.

How do I fix it to the ceiling?

It uses spring-loaded 'dog-ear' clamps. Push the speaker into the cutout and the clamps swing out to grip the plasterboard, holding it in place without extra brackets.

What power can it handle?

The C6S is rated at 25W + 25W RMS with a maximum of 50W + 50W, across an impedance of 2 x 8 ohms. Match your amplifier output to suit.

Is it suitable for large rooms?

It is best suited to small rooms. For larger spaces you would normally fit multiple speakers to keep sound even across the area.
