Description

The Abari is a shallow round bowl in zinc, 32cm across and 15cm deep, hung on three chains that gather at a hook above it. The rim is rolled over on itself and the sides curve down to the base with no foot beneath. The surface is left to weather: a mottled grey with orange brown breaking through it in patches, heavier round the rim and thinner across the belly. The base is pierced for drainage.

It is made for outdoors. Planted up with trailing greenery, the leaves fall over the rolled rim and hide the chains from the front. At 32cm across and 15cm deep it is wide rather than deep, and because the base is pierced it can be planted into directly rather than used as a cover for another pot.

The bowl is zinc, and the aged rust finish on it goes on weathering once the planter is outside, so the mottling shifts over time rather than staying as it arrives. Abari is made in two sizes, this one and a wider one at 39.5cm.

Frequently Asked

Does it have a drainage hole?

Yes. The base is pierced, so water runs out rather than standing in the bowl.

Can it be left outside?

Yes, it is made for outdoor use. The aged rust finish carries on weathering once it is out there.

How does it hang?

On three chains that meet at a hook above the bowl. The chains fix through the rim at three points.

How big is it?

32cm across and 15cm deep. Abari is also made at 39.5cm across.

Is every one the same?

No. The finish is an aged one, so the grey and the orange brown fall differently across each bowl.
