Description

The medium Abari is a tapered planter in zinc, 50cm across the rim and 40cm tall. It is a plain cone: a wide rolled rim at the top, straight sides falling to a narrower base, and a rolled foot. Two vertical seams show where the sheet is lapped and joined. The patina is uneven over the whole pot, pale grey blue and cream in places and broad patches of orange rust in others, and the inside has rusted further than the outside.

It is made to go outside and it has drainage holes. At 50cm across the rim it takes a shrub, a small tree or a full planting of herbs rather than a single stem, and at 40cm tall it stands on the ground or on a deep sill with nothing needed under it. The base is narrower than the rim, so a group of them stands closer together than the rims suggest.

The pot is zinc, left bare, so the rust already across it will spread the longer it stays out. Abari makes this tapered planter in a medium and a large, and the range also runs to a wall mounted hanging planter, a caged and a round hanging planter each in two sizes, and a planter stand.
