Description

A spoon and a fork, each 28cm long and 6cm across the bowl. Both bowls are the same rounded shape, and the fork is cut with two notches to leave three short tines. The metal is pitted and unevenly polished, brighter across the face of each bowl and duller along the stems, which are flat and square in section. The lower half of each handle is bound in closely coiled seagrass, and the metal shows again below the binding as a rounded end.

At 28cm the stems are long enough to reach the bottom of a deep bowl, and the seagrass stops halfway down the handle, so everything that goes into the food is metal. They are food safe. The pair lie together beside the bowl once it is on the table.

The metal is iron under an antique brass finish, left uneven rather than buffed flat, so the tone varies from bowl to stem. The handles are wrapped by hand, so the pitch of the coil differs from one server to the other and from one pair to the next.
