Aasha Mango Wood Half Moon Console Table - Natural

The Aasha is a half moon console table: a semicircular mango wood top, 83cm across the straight edge and 40cm deep at the centre of the curve, set in a band of dark iron that wraps the whole edge and stands a little proud of the wood as a lip. The top is chisel carved into fine parallel ridges, worked in bands that change direction across the surface. A second half moon, carved and banded the same way, sits low between the legs as a shelf. Four slim square iron uprights run straight from the floor to the top.

The back edge is straight, so the table stands flat against a wall, and at 40cm deep it takes a hallway without narrowing it. The top is 74cm from the floor. The lower shelf under the top takes books. At 14.8kg one person can move it.

The top and the shelf are mango wood and the frame is iron. The carving is done by hand, chiselled into the surface rather than pressed into it, so the run of the ridges differs from table to table. The iron is left rustic, with its own texture and shifts of colour rather than an even coat. The Aasha range also holds two sets of nesting tables in carved mango wood and iron.

How do I look after it?

Wipe it regularly with a soft dry cloth, always along the grain. Mild soap and water can be used sparingly, though water left standing will damage the finish. Use coasters and mats, deal with spills straight away, and keep it out of strong direct sunlight and away from extremes of heat and humidity.
