Aahna 60 x 40cm Wool Cushion Cover - Charcoal

A cushion cover 60cm by 40cm, flat woven in the same cream and charcoal fabric as the Aahna square. The two yarns alternate stitch by stitch down broad vertical bands, so every band reads as a fine broken check rather than as a solid colour, and the bands shift in weight across the face, some running almost dark and others close to pale. The weave is open enough to count the rows. It is supplied as a cover, without an inner.

Sixty by forty is a lumbar shape, so it goes in the small of the back in an armchair, or lies across the front of a row of squares on a sofa or a bed. The bands run down the short dimension, so on a rectangle they read as a run of narrow columns rather than as broad panels.

Wool and recycled polyester are blended into one yarn and woven on traditional Indian looms, the polyester made from repurposed plastic waste. The pattern comes out of the weaving rather than being printed on after it, so the bands land in different places on every cover. Aahna is also made as a 50 x 50cm square.

Yes. Cushion covers and throws are tested for colourfastness.

How do I look after it?

Follow the label on the cover. Many covers and throws are washable, but some fabrics are spot clean only. Lift a spill with an absorbent tissue first, then blot the area with a sponge or a clean folded towel moistened in lukewarm water, and dry it by blowing warm air across the surface from a hair dryer so it does not water mark. Larger and more stubborn stains should be dealt with professionally.
