Description

The Knightsbridge 60mm bi-metal holesaw features a steel body with bi-metal variable teeth rated at 4/6 TPI (teeth per inch), designed to cut through steel, stainless steel, die-cast metals, hardwood flooring, plywood and plastics. The 60mm diameter creates a circular cut-out suitable for installing recessed downlights, extraction fans, cable grommets and plumbing fittings that require a 60mm aperture.

The holesaw cuts to a maximum depth of 38mm in a single pass, which accommodates most residential ceiling and wall thicknesses including plasterboard on timber or metal stud, brick, blockwork and marine plywood. For deeper cuts, the holesaw can be run from both sides of the material. The bi-metal construction combines a high-speed steel cutting edge with a flexible spring steel body, giving sharper teeth that retain edge life longer than standard carbon steel holesaws when cutting harder materials like stainless steel or hardwood.

The variable tooth pitch (alternating between 4 TPI and 6 TPI) reduces vibration and chatter during cutting, which improves cut quality and extends blade life when used in handheld drills. The yellow powder-coated finish identifies the holesaw size quickly in a tool bag. The saw requires the Knightsbridge HSARBORL arbor (sold separately) to mount onto a drill chuck — the arbor provides the pilot bit and threaded attachment for the holesaw body.

Frequently Asked

What arbor does this holesaw require?

The 60mm holesaw requires the Knightsbridge HSARBORL arbor, sold separately. The arbor provides the pilot drill bit and threaded attachment that mounts the holesaw onto a standard drill chuck.

What materials can it cut?

The bi-metal teeth are rated to cut steel, stainless steel, die-cast metals, hardwood flooring, plywood and plastics. The variable 4/6 TPI tooth pitch handles both softer materials (wood, plastic) and harder metals without excessive vibration.

What is the maximum cutting depth?

The holesaw cuts to 38mm depth in a single pass. For thicker materials, the cut can be started from one side and completed from the reverse side to achieve a clean through-hole in material up to 76mm thick.

Can it be used with a cordless drill?

Yes, provided the drill has sufficient torque. A brushless cordless drill rated at 50Nm or higher typically handles 60mm holesaw cuts in wood and plasterboard. Cutting steel or stainless steel benefits from a corded drill or higher-torque impact driver to maintain cutting speed.
