6 Gang Twin 2 Way Light Switch - Carbon Fibre

Six rockers sit side by side on one twin plate, so a whole cluster of separate switches comes down to a single tidy panel. The front is screwless, with a carbon fibre texture that reads dark and matt from across the room and catches a little light up close. Each rocker is a two way type, so it can be wired to work in a pair with another switch elsewhere in the room, either one doing the job. It runs on ordinary domestic lighting circuits at mains voltage.

It earns its keep where several circuits land in the same place: the foot of a staircase, a long hallway, or the doorway of an open plan kitchen and dining room where spots, a pendant, undercabinet strips and the outside light all want controlling from one wall. Wired as a pair, it also suits landings and through rooms that need a switch at each end. We reach for it on a refit where the old bank of plates has grown untidy, and for anyone who would rather have one considered plate than a row of mismatched ones.

Plate and rockers are moulded polycarbonate with metal parts behind, finished in the carbon fibre texture with chrome detail. The textured surface is kinder to fingerprints than gloss. For cleaning, turn the lighting circuit off at the consumer unit, go over the rockers and plate with a barely damp cloth, dry them at once, and keep solvents, cream cleaners and aerosol sprays away from the texture. It carries a ten year warranty. The dark finish shows to advantage against pale plaster or a painted panel, where the plate is meant to be seen rather than disappear, and it sits happily beside chrome and brushed metal door furniture.

How much wall does the plate cover?

It is a twin plate measuring 146mm across by 88mm tall, which is the standard double plate footprint most homes already have.

10AX per rocker on a 220-250V, 50/60Hz domestic supply, made to BS EN 60669 and UKCA/CE marked.

Can a two way switch be used where I only need one way?

Yes. Two way rockers are commonly wired for simple one way operation, with the spare terminal left unused.

Is it suitable for a bathroom or an outbuilding?

No. It is IP20 rated for indoor use in dry rooms only, so it is not for wet areas or unheated exposed spaces.

Will the carbon fibre texture wear or discolour?

The finish is part of the moulding rather than a coating. Wiping with a damp cloth and avoiding abrasive or solvent cleaners keeps the texture as it was.
