Description
The Knightsbridge 6-gang grid faceplate is a 146.5mm square matt black steel plate designed to house six grid modules in a 2x3 configuration. The faceplate accepts Knightsbridge grid inserts only, requiring two GDF002F grid frames (sold separately) to mount the modules behind the plate. The matt black finish matches Knightsbridge's Rounded Edge range.
Grid faceplates allow installers to build custom switch and socket configurations by choosing individual modules (switches, dimmers, sockets, USB ports, data outlets) and mounting them behind a single unified faceplate. This 6-gang size suits applications where multiple controls need to be grouped in one location, such as kitchen islands with multiple appliance circuits, conference rooms with AV and lighting controls, or hallways controlling several lighting zones.
The faceplate is constructed from premium-grade steel rather than plastic, giving a solid feel and resistance to impact and scratching. At 7.5mm projection from the wall, the plate sits almost flush once mounted. The rounded edges soften the visual profile compared to traditional sharp-edged plates. The matt black finish provides a low-sheen surface that resists fingerprints and pairs with both contemporary and industrial interiors.

Frequently Asked
What grid frames are needed?
This 6-gang faceplate requires two GDF002F 2x3 grid frames (sold separately) to mount behind the plate. The frames hold the individual grid modules in position before the faceplate is fixed over the top.
Is this compatible with standard switches?
No. This faceplate is designed exclusively for use with Knightsbridge grid system modules. It will not accept standard UK switches or sockets from non-grid ranges.
What back box depth is required?
The required back box depth depends on the specific grid modules being installed. Most grid modules require a minimum 35mm back box, though deeper boxes (47mm) are recommended when combining multiple high-profile modules such as dimmer switches.
Can I mix different module types behind one faceplate?
Yes. Grid systems allow you to mix switches, dimmers, sockets, USB outlets, data ports and blank modules in any combination behind a single faceplate, provided you use the correct number and size of grid frames to support them.
