The Knightsbridge 5A unswitched round pin socket provides a dedicated outlet for custom lighting circuits, table lamps and low-draw appliances behind a brushed chrome screwless faceplate with a white insert. The 5A rating supports loads up to 1,150W on 230V mains, making it suitable for lighting control where standard 13A sockets would be over-specified.

Designed for residential and hospitality lighting installations where table lamps, uplighters or decorative fittings need a dedicated circuit independent from general power outlets, the socket fits a 25mm minimum back box depth. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, leaving no visible fixings on the wall once installed. The unswitched design means the socket is always live when the circuit breaker is on, allowing control to be managed by a separate wall switch or dimmer elsewhere on the circuit.

The premium-grade steel construction carries a 25-year warranty. The brushed chrome finish provides a cooler, contemporary metallic tone compared to brass variants, pairing well with modern and minimalist interiors. The white insert behind the faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a clean edge to the round pin aperture. What's the difference between a 5A and 13A socket?

A 5A socket supports loads up to 1,150W and uses round pins rather than the rectangular pins of standard UK 13A outlets. It's typically used for dedicated lighting circuits, table lamps and low-draw decorative fittings where a full 13A outlet would be over-specified. The round pin design also prevents standard UK plugs from being inserted, keeping the circuit dedicated to its intended purpose.

Is this socket switched or unswitched?

Unswitched. The socket is always live when the circuit breaker is on. Control is typically managed by a separate wall switch or dimmer elsewhere on the circuit, or by a switch on the appliance itself.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the socket and re-clipped without re-wiring.
