Description
The Knightsbridge 45A DP switch with neon is a cooker control unit built into a 2-gang size brushed chrome faceplate with square edges. The double pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when turned off, allowing safe maintenance and cleaning of connected cooking appliances without needing to isolate at the consumer unit. The red neon indicator glows when the switch is in the on position, providing visual confirmation of the circuit state.
Designed for installation near cookers, ovens and hobs rated up to 45A (10,350W at 230V), the switch allows the appliance to be isolated locally rather than at the distribution board. This is particularly useful in kitchens where multiple high-power cooking appliances are installed, as it gives residents and maintenance staff a visible, accessible isolation point. The 2-gang size plate gives a larger presence on the wall compared to single-gang switches, making the switch easier to locate in busy kitchen environments.
The brushed chrome finish has a directional grain that softens reflections and pairs well with stainless steel appliances, chrome tap fittings and contemporary kitchen hardware. The square edge profile sits flush with the wall without a raised or bevelled edge, creating a clean modern finish. The premium-grade steel construction gives a more substantial feel than plastic alternatives and resists scratches and fingerprints better than polished finishes. The switch requires a 47mm minimum back box depth for installation.

Frequently Asked
What appliances can this switch control?
The 45A rating handles cookers, ovens, hobs and ranges drawing up to 10,350W at 230V. This covers most domestic cooking appliances including dual-fuel and electric-only installations. Check the appliance nameplate rating before installation to confirm compatibility.
What does the neon indicator show?
The red neon glows when the switch is in the on position, providing visual confirmation that the circuit is live. This allows you to see at a glance whether the appliance is isolated or connected to mains power.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 47mm back box depth is needed for safe installation. The faceplate adds 10.5mm projection from the wall once fitted, giving a total depth of approximately 57.5mm from the back of the back box to the face of the plate.
Is this switch screwless?
No. This is a traditional screw-fixed faceplate with visible fixing screws at top and bottom. Knightsbridge also produces screwless variants in other ranges if you require a screw-free finish.
