Description

The Knightsbridge 4-gang grid faceplate is a Part M compliant anthracite cover plate for the Curved Edge Grid System, accepting four grid modules behind a single 146 x 86mm faceplate. The anthracite finish provides a Light Reflectance Value (LRV) of approximately 8.9, meeting Building Regulations Part M requirements for contrast between the faceplate and wall (30% LRV difference) when installed on lighter-toned walls.

Designed for residential, care home and public building installations where accessibility compliance is required, the faceplate works with Knightsbridge Curved Edge grid modules to build custom switch and socket configurations. The faceplate requires one CUG2F grid sub-frame (sold separately) which fixes to the back box and provides mounting points for the four individual grid modules. The thermoset resin construction carries inherent anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011.

The 7mm projection from the wall once installed gives the faceplate a low profile that reduces snagging risk in high-traffic areas. The anthracite finish is a dark grey-black that pairs with modern interiors, industrial schemes and monochrome colour palettes. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations. Knightsbridge backs the faceplate with a 25-year warranty covering material and manufacturing defects.

Frequently Asked

What is Part M compliance and why does it matter?

Part M of the UK Building Regulations sets standards for accessibility in buildings, including requirements for visual contrast between electrical accessories and the surrounding wall. This faceplate's LRV of 8.9 provides the required contrast when installed on walls with LRV above 38.9, making switches and sockets easier to locate for people with visual impairments. It's required in care homes, public buildings and new residential builds.

What components are needed to use this faceplate?

You need one CUG2F grid sub-frame (sold separately) which fixes to the back box, plus up to four Curved Edge grid modules (switches, sockets, dimmers, data outlets etc.) which clip into the sub-frame. The faceplate then clips over the entire assembly.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means the faceplate is for dry indoor use only. It cannot be used in bathroom zones where IP44 or higher is required. Use it outside bathroom zones in bedrooms, hallways and living areas.

What does the anti-microbial property do?

The thermoset resin carries inherent anti-microbial properties that inhibit bacterial growth on the faceplate surface. This is tested to ISO 22196:2011 and is particularly relevant in care homes, hospitals and high-traffic commercial settings where hygiene is a priority.
