The Knightsbridge 4-gang grid faceplate is a 146.5mm matt black steel cover plate designed to house four modular grid switch or socket inserts within a single mounting frame. The faceplate fits the Knightsbridge grid system only and requires a separate GDF002F mounting frame (sold separately) to fix the modular units behind the cover. The rounded edge profile matches the Knightsbridge Rounded Edge matt black switches and sockets range.

Designed for kitchens, utility rooms and commercial installations where multiple switching or socket functions need consolidating into a single wall plate, the 4-gang configuration typically accommodates four single-width grid modules or a combination of single and double-width modules depending on layout. The steel faceplate fits a standard UK back box with the GDF002F frame acting as the adapter between the modular units and the wall fixing.

The matt black finish is a low-sheen powder-coated steel that resists fingerprints and minor abrasion better than gloss black finishes. The 7.5mm projection from the wall gives a slim profile suitable for modern interiors where minimal protrusion is preferred. What else is needed to install this faceplate?

The faceplate requires one GDF002F mounting frame and up to four Knightsbridge grid modules (switches, sockets, dimmers, USB outlets or blanks). All three components are sold separately. The mounting frame fixes to a standard UK back box, the grid modules clip into the frame, and this faceplate covers the assembly.

Can I mix single and double-width grid modules?

Yes. A 4-gang faceplate can accommodate four single-width modules, two double-width modules, or a combination such as one double-width and two single-width modules. The total width of the modules must not exceed the internal capacity of the 4-gang frame.

Is this compatible with other manufacturers' grid systems?

No. This faceplate is designed specifically for the Knightsbridge grid system and will not fit MK, Varilight, Deta or other brands' modular systems. Grid systems are not standardised across manufacturers.

What does IP20 mean for installation locations?

IP20 confirms the faceplate is suitable for dry indoor locations such as kitchens, living rooms, offices and hallways. It is not rated for bathroom zones, outdoor use or any location where water ingress is possible.
