Description
The Knightsbridge SC30PA is a 12-way terminal block rated at 30A per terminal, housed in a natural-coloured PA66 nylon strip that measures 163mm long by 23.8mm wide by 18.2mm high. Each of the 12 terminals accepts cable up to 16mm² cross-sectional area, clamped by brass screws that provide firm contact without stripping softer copper strands.
Designed for residential and commercial wiring installations where multiple circuits need to be joined or distributed cleanly, the terminal strip suits meter tails, lighting circuits, immersion heater feeds, and sub-distribution boards. The 30A rating per terminal handles loads up to 6.9kW on 230V mains, which covers most domestic and light commercial appliances without needing to uprate to industrial-grade terminal blocks. The IP20 rating indicates protection against finger contact and objects larger than 12.5mm, but not against moisture ingress, so the block must be installed within a dry enclosure or consumer unit.
The PA66 housing carries UL94-V2 flame retardancy, meaning it self-extinguishes within 30 seconds of flame removal and does not allow flaming drips. The material withstands operating temperatures from -30°C to +110°C, which allows installation in unheated spaces such as garages and loft-mounted consumer units without the plastic becoming brittle. The natural PA66 finish is off-white to light cream, which differs from the darker grey or black housings common in industrial terminal blocks and makes identification of individual terminals easier under poor lighting.

Frequently Asked
What cable size does each terminal accept?
Each terminal accepts cable up to 16mm² cross-sectional area. This covers most domestic and light commercial wiring, including 10mm² meter tails and 6mm² cooker feeds.
Can this be used outdoors or in damp locations?
No. The IP20 rating provides protection against finger contact but not against moisture. The terminal block must be installed within a dry consumer unit, junction box or enclosure to prevent water ingress and corrosion of the brass terminals.
What does UL94-V2 flame retardancy mean?
UL94-V2 is a flammability standard that requires the material to self-extinguish within 30 seconds of flame removal and not allow flaming drips that would ignite cotton beneath the test sample. PA66 meeting this standard is safe for use in consumer units and distribution boards.
Can the terminal strip be cut down to fewer ways?
The 12-way strip is moulded as a single piece and cannot be safely cut down. If fewer terminals are needed, simply leave the unused positions empty or choose a shorter variant from Knightsbridge's terminal block range.
