The Knightsbridge 3-gang grid faceplate is a 146.5mm x 87.75mm matt black steel plate designed to house three modular grid inserts in the Knightsbridge grid system. The faceplate provides the visible finish and structural frame for custom switch and socket configurations built from individual grid modules.

Designed for residential and commercial installations where bespoke control layouts are needed, the grid system allows switches, sockets, dimmers, and other modules to be combined in a single faceplate. The 3-gang size accommodates three standard grid inserts side by side, making it suitable for kitchen worktop runs, hotel bedrooms, boardrooms, and any location where multiple functions need to be grouped in one mounting point. The faceplate requires one GDF002F grid frame (sold separately) to mount the grid inserts.

The matt black finish is powder-coated onto premium-grade steel, giving a low-sheen surface that resists fingerprints and pairs with both contemporary and industrial interiors. The rounded edges soften the profile against the wall, and the 7.5mm projection keeps the faceplate close to the mounting surface. The IP20 rating confirms the faceplate is suitable for dry indoor locations but not for bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor use.

What else is needed to complete the installation?

This faceplate requires one GDF002F grid frame (sold separately) to mount the grid inserts. You then add the specific grid modules you need — switches, sockets, dimmers, blanks — which clip into the frame behind the faceplate.

Is this compatible with standard switches and sockets?

No. This faceplate is for use with the Knightsbridge grid system only. It will not accept standard UK switches or sockets designed for traditional faceplates.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means this faceplate is suitable for dry indoor locations only. For bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor use, a higher IP-rated product is required.
