Description

The Knightsbridge BT20ACTDALI is a 20W LED bulkhead fitting with switchable colour temperature (3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white, 5700K cool white) and DALI dimmable control, built into a 380mm diameter white polycarbonate body rated IP65. The integrated SMD LED array delivers 1820-2070 lumens depending on the selected colour temperature, with a 115-degree beam angle for even light spread across walls and ceilings.

Designed for commercial corridors, retail service areas, car parks, exterior building entrances and residential utility spaces where both weather resistance and light control are needed, the bulkhead installs on walls or ceilings using a hinged gear tray and push-fit terminal block. The DALI dimming protocol allows integration into commercial building management systems for automated daylight harvesting and occupancy-based dimming, reducing energy consumption in areas with variable occupancy.

The polycarbonate construction provides impact resistance while keeping the fitting lightweight at 81mm projection from the mounting surface. The opal diffuser sits flush with the outer bezel and prevents direct view of the LED array, eliminating glare in circulation areas. The CCT switching is set via a small switch accessed during installation, allowing the installer to choose the most appropriate colour temperature for the space without changing the fitting or wiring. The IP65 rating seals the fitting against dust and low-pressure water jets, making it suitable for outdoor soffits, covered walkways and damp internal areas such as industrial kitchens and washrooms.

How is the colour temperature changed?

A small switch accessed during installation allows selection between 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white and 5700K cool white. The setting is chosen once during fitting and remains fixed unless the bulkhead is removed and the switch adjusted again.

What dimming control does it support?

The bulkhead uses DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) dimming protocol, which is standard in commercial building management systems. It cannot be dimmed with domestic trailing-edge or leading-edge dimmers. DALI requires a compatible controller and addressable wiring.

Can it be used outdoors?

Yes. The IP65 rating protects against dust and low-pressure water jets, making it suitable for outdoor soffits, covered walkways and building entrances. It should not be installed in locations where it will be submerged or exposed to high-pressure washing.

What is the expected lifespan?

The LED array has an L70B50 rating of 50,000 hours, meaning 50% of a sample population will still deliver at least 70% of initial light output after 50,000 hours of operation. At 12 hours per day this equates to approximately 11 years of use.
