Description

The Knightsbridge 20AX 1-gang DP toggle switch module is a single-gang double-pole toggle finished in brushed chrome, designed to clip into Knightsbridge Grid system plates. The 20AX rating handles lighting circuits up to 4,600W on 230V mains, making it suitable for high-load lighting installations and commercial applications where standard 10AX switches would be under-rated.

This is a modular switch that fits into Knightsbridge Grid frontplates sold separately. The module measures 24.8mm wide by 56.3mm high, occupying one grid position in a multi-gang Grid plate. The front-clip fitting allows the module to be pressed into the grid frame from the front without needing rear access, simplifying installation and replacement. Double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the toggle is off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for circuits feeding multiple luminaires.

The brushed chrome finish is a low-sheen satin metal that minimises fingerprint visibility and pairs well with stainless steel appliances, modern kitchens, commercial offices and hospitality interiors. The toggle itself is metal rather than plastic, giving tactile feedback on switching. The module projects 18.4mm from the mounting plate once clipped in, with a total depth of 35.78mm including the rear terminals. A 35mm minimum back box depth is required for safe installation.

What is the Knightsbridge Grid system?

The Grid system is a modular wiring accessory range where individual switch and socket modules clip into separate frontplates. This allows you to build custom multi-gang configurations by combining different modules (switches, dimmers, sockets, data ports) in a single plate. This module requires a Grid frontplate sold separately.

What does 20AX mean?

The 20AX rating indicates the switch can handle 20 amps of resistive or inductive load. On 230V mains this equates to 4,600W, which is higher than standard 10AX switches and suitable for circuits feeding multiple high-wattage halogen or LED fittings.

What is double pole switching?

Can the module be removed after installation?

Yes. Grid modules clip into the frontplate from the front and can be removed by releasing the clips, allowing modules to be swapped or replaced without rewiring the entire plate.
