Description

The Knightsbridge 20AX 1-way SP switch module is a single-gang grid switch designed to fit the Curved Edge modular grid system. Rated at 20AX on 230V single-pole circuits, it switches live only and is designed for controlling lighting circuits or resistive loads up to 4,600W. The white thermoset resin construction includes anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011.

Designed for residential and commercial installation, the module fits a standard 35mm minimum back box depth and mounts onto a grid frame (sold separately) that accepts multiple modules side-by-side. The front-mounting design means the module clips into the frame from the front, allowing for installation or replacement without removing the back box. The rocker cover can be swapped for a designated cover to indicate specific functions or circuits.

The module measures 55mm high by 25mm wide with a recessed depth of 20mm behind the grid frame. The IP20 rating confirms suitability for dry indoor locations. What grid frame does this module fit?

This module fits the Knightsbridge Curved Edge modular grid system. You will need a compatible grid frame (sold separately) that accepts 25mm-wide modules. Frames are available in 1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang and larger configurations.

What is the difference between 1-way and 2-way switching?

A 1-way switch controls a circuit from a single location only. It has two terminals and simply makes or breaks the live connection. For controlling a light from two different positions (e.g. top and bottom of stairs), you would need 2-way switches instead.

What does 20AX rating mean?

20AX indicates a 20-amp switching capacity for resistive loads on 230V AC circuits, which equates to 4,600W. The 'X' designation confirms suitability for inductive loads as well, making it appropriate for fluorescent or LED lighting circuits with inrush current.

Can the rocker cover be changed?

Yes. The rocker cover clips onto the module mechanism and can be replaced with a designated cover marked for specific functions (sold separately). This allows labelling of circuits without needing to replace the entire switch mechanism.
