Description
The Knightsbridge 20A flex outlet plate provides a wiring connection point for fixed appliances such as water heaters, refrigerators, central heating boilers and electric towel rails. The screwless matt black faceplate covers a single cable entry aperture rated for cables up to 10mm diameter, with an integral cable strain relief clamp to prevent the flex from being pulled free of the terminals under normal use.
Designed for residential and light commercial installation, the flex outlet sits flush to the wall with no visible fixings once the cover plate is clipped onto the metal sub-frame. The 20A rating handles loads up to 4,600W at 230V, making it suitable for most domestic fixed appliances that require a permanent connection rather than a plug-and-socket arrangement. The terminal block accepts 3 x 2.5mm² cables or 2 x 4.0mm² cables, with twin earth terminals for reliable grounding.
The matt black finish is a low-sheen powder-coated steel that pairs with contemporary, industrial and monochrome interiors. The screwless design gives a cleaner finish than traditional screw-fixed outlet plates, particularly in utility rooms, kitchens and bathrooms where appliances are visible rather than concealed behind units. The IP20 rating is suitable for dry indoor locations; for wet or outdoor locations a higher IP-rated enclosure is required.

Frequently Asked
What appliances is this flex outlet suitable for?
The 20A rating handles fixed appliances up to 4,600W at 230V, including water heaters, refrigerators, central heating boilers, electric towel rails, and other permanently-wired equipment. It is not intended for plug-in appliances — those require a standard socket outlet.
What cable diameter does it accept?
The outlet accepts cables up to 10mm diameter through the aperture. The terminal block inside accepts 3 x 2.5mm² cables or 2 x 4.0mm² cables, with twin earth terminals for reliable grounding.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The matt black cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame that is fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the outlet and re-clipped without needing to access the wiring.
Can this be used in a bathroom?
The IP20 rating is suitable for dry indoor locations. In a bathroom it must be installed outside splash zones — typically wall-mounted above worktop height for an electric towel rail or water heater. For locations subject to direct water spray or outdoor use, a higher IP-rated enclosure is required.
