Description
The Knightsbridge 20A flex outlet plate provides a dedicated connection point for fixed appliances behind a brushed chrome screwless faceplate. Rated at 20A on 230V mains, the plate handles refrigerators, water heaters, electric towel rails, central heating boilers and other permanently-wired appliances drawing up to 4,600W. A single central aperture accepts cable up to 10mm diameter, with integrated strain relief inside the back box to reduce stress on the cable where it exits the wall.
Designed for kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms and airing cupboards where fixed appliances require a hardwired connection rather than a plug-and-socket arrangement, the flex outlet plate sits flush to the wall once installed. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, leaving no visible screws or fixings on the wall surface. The IP20 rating suits dry indoor locations; for bathrooms and wet rooms, check local regulations regarding placement zones around water sources.
The brushed chrome finish shows directional grain lines across the steel surface, softening reflections and fingerprinting compared to polished chrome. The plate measures 86mm square with rounded corners and a low 10mm projection from the wall once fitted. Terminal capacity inside the back box handles 3 x 2.5mm² or 2 x 4.0mm² cables, with twin earth terminals for safe connection to Class I appliances requiring protective earthing. The premium-grade steel construction and 25-year warranty indicate commercial-grade durability suitable for residential and light commercial installation.

Frequently Asked
What appliances can this plate connect?
Any fixed appliance rated up to 20A (4,600W) on 230V mains. Common examples include electric water heaters, refrigerators, freezers, electric towel rails, central heating boilers and immersion heaters. The plate is not suitable for portable appliances that require a standard socket.
What back box depth is required?
A standard 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The screwless cover plate adds approximately 10mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving a total 35mm depth requirement from the back of the back box to the face of the plate.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The brushed chrome cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be unclipped for painting around the outlet and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring inside.
Can this be used in a bathroom?
The IP20 rating suits dry indoor locations. For bathrooms, check local regulations regarding placement zones around baths, showers and basins. The plate is commonly used for electric towel rails and water heaters positioned outside immediate splash zones.
