The Knightsbridge M8341N is a 20A 1-gang double pole switch with a red neon indicator, housed in a powder-coated steel metal clad box. The double pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the switch is turned off, providing additional safety for high-load circuits such as water heaters, immersion heaters, and commercial appliances rated up to 4,600W on 230V mains.

What does the 20A rating mean?

The 20A (20AX) rating means the switch can safely handle circuits carrying up to 20 amps of current, equivalent to 4,600W at 230V. This makes it suitable for immersion heaters, water heaters, commercial appliances and other high-load equipment.

Does it need a separate back box?

No. The metal clad unit includes an integral back box as part of the enclosure, so it mounts directly to the wall surface using the screw holes in the housing. This makes installation simpler than flush-mounted switches that require a separate recessed box.

What does the neon indicator show?

The red neon indicator lights up when the switch is in the ON position and the circuit is live. This provides a visual confirmation that power is flowing to the connected appliance or circuit, which is particularly useful for circuits that control equipment in a different room or location.
