Description

The Knightsbridge 20A 1-gang double pole switch provides switching for fixed appliances up to 4,600W on 230V mains, typically water heaters, storage heaters and other high-draw permanent installations. The double pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when off, adding safety over single-pole switching for always-on appliances. A red neon indicator above the rocker shows when the switch is in the on position.

Designed for residential and light commercial installation, the switch uses Knightsbridge's ultra-flat plate design with a gunmetal finish on premium grade steel. The 2.5mm projection from the wall is among the lowest profiles in the Knightsbridge range, suiting contemporary interiors where minimal wall projection is preferred. The rocker matches the gunmetal plate finish, giving a monochrome appearance without contrasting inserts or visible screws.

The switch fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and includes an integrated gasket between the plate and the wall to reduce dust ingress and give a flush edge seal. The gunmetal finish is a dark grey-brown metallic tone that sits between matt black and brushed stainless in warmth, pairing well with industrial, mid-century and contemporary schemes. Certified to EN 60669-1 and backed by a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What appliances does a 20A switch suit?

20A switches are typically used for fixed appliances up to 4,600W on 230V mains, including immersion heaters, storage heaters, towel rails and other high-draw permanent installations. They are not intended for general lighting circuits or standard socket outlets.

What does the neon indicator show?

The red neon indicator above the rocker illuminates when the switch is in the on position, providing a visual confirmation that power is flowing to the connected appliance. This is particularly useful for appliances located away from the switch position.

What is double pole switching?

Double pole switching isolates both the live and neutral conductors when the switch is off, whereas single pole switching only breaks the live. For high-power fixed appliances, double pole switching provides additional safety by fully isolating the circuit.

What other finishes are available in this range?

Knightsbridge produces this ultra-flat plate style in multiple finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
