Description
The Knightsbridge 20A 1-gang double pole switch pairs a gunmetal flat plate with a matching rocker, neon indicator, and flex outlet aperture for fixed appliance wiring. Rated at 20A on 230V mains, the switch handles loads up to 4,600W and provides double pole isolation, cutting both live and neutral lines when switched off for added safety with water heaters, immersion heaters, and other high-draw fixed appliances.
Designed for residential, hospitality and commercial installation where a fixed appliance needs local switching, the switch is commonly fitted in airing cupboards, utility rooms, kitchens (above worktops for water heaters), and bathrooms (outside zones for electric showers). The flex outlet at the base of the faceplate allows the appliance cable to exit directly through the plate, giving a neater finish than running cable externally. The neon indicator glows when the switch is on, providing instant visual confirmation of power state.
The gunmetal finish is a dark charcoal-grey metal tone that sits between polished chrome and matt black, pairing well with industrial, contemporary and monochrome interiors. The flat plate construction is an ultra-low-profile design at just 2.5mm projection from the wall once fitted, with an integrated gasket that seals against the wall surface. The plate is constructed from premium-grade steel and uses visible screw fixings at top and bottom. Certified to EN 60669-1 and backed by a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked
What appliances is this switch suitable for?
The 20A rating handles fixed appliances drawing up to 4,600W on 230V mains. Common applications include water heaters, immersion heaters, electric towel rails, and electric showers (when fitted outside bathroom zones). The double pole switching isolates both live and neutral for additional safety.
What is the flex outlet used for?
The flex outlet aperture at the base of the faceplate allows the appliance cable to exit through the plate itself rather than running externally. This gives a cleaner finish when the switch is surface-mounted or fitted in an airing cupboard where the cable needs to drop down to the appliance below.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The 2.5mm projection of the flat plate means the total projection from the wall surface is minimal once fitted.
Does the neon indicator require a neutral connection?
Yes. The neon indicator requires a neutral connection to operate. Wiring diagrams are included in the product manual (see Downloads tab).
