Description
The Knightsbridge 20A 1-gang double pole switch is built around a premium-grade steel faceplate finished in gunmetal, with a matching rocker switch and an ultra-low 2.5mm projection from the wall once fitted. The 20A rating handles fixed high-draw appliances including water heaters, storage heaters, small electric showers and garage workshop circuits up to 4,600W on a 230V supply.
Double pole switching isolates both the live and neutral conductors when the switch is in the off position, offering additional safety over single-pole switching for permanently-wired appliances. The switch fits a standard UK 25mm minimum back box depth and includes an earth terminal. An integrated gasket between the faceplate and the wall creates a flush seal that minimises dust ingress and gives a clean edge against painted or wallpapered surfaces.
The gunmetal finish is a dark, cool-toned grey metal that pairs well with industrial, contemporary and monochrome interiors. The flat plate design has no visible screw fixings on the faceplate itself, with the plate secured from behind to maintain the minimal profile. Certified to EN 60669-1 and carrying a 25-year warranty, the switch is designed for long-term residential and commercial installation.

Frequently Asked
What appliances can this switch control?
The 20A rating supports fixed appliances up to 4,600W on a 230V supply. Common applications include water heaters, storage heaters, towel rails and small electric showers. It is not suitable for general-purpose socket circuits.
What is double pole switching?
Double pole (DP) means the switch isolates both the live and neutral conductors when off, rather than just the live. This provides additional safety for permanently-wired appliances by fully disconnecting the circuit.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The ultra-flat 2.5mm projection from the wall surface means the total depth required from wall surface to back of box is approximately 27.5mm.
Can the faceplate be removed for decorating?
The faceplate is fixed from behind with no visible screws on the front. It can be removed for painting around the switch by loosening the rear fixings, but this requires isolating the circuit at the consumer unit first.
